To get better at doing math, you have to DO math. Get better at reading, READ. Want to jump higher? ….You got it! It’s time to practice those leaping abilities.
Plyometrics are the key to translating that strength you developed, into speed and power. I recommend dedicating at least one day out of the week to just explosive plyometric work. Let’s dig in….
Warm up. A proper warm up is always key, but especially before plyometric work. You want to make sure you get lose and protect those joints.
- Dynamic Stretching is very beneficial and allows you to be prepared for the work ahead. Arm circles, leg swigs, karate kicks, and Frankensteins just to name a few.
- Mobility drills are also required to keep your joints and muscles prepared. Skips, lateral shuffle, carioca, high knees, and butt kicks are a must. Any other type of bounding exercise can also be included.
As for your Vertical Jump…
Here are your drills
- Box jumps/one leg box jumps
- depth jumps
- jump for high
- jump for distance
