My name is Baris, and I am a straight up health nerd.
It wasn’t always like that. As a kid my weight fluctuated from skinny to chubby to lean to fat to buff….You name it I was there!
But I was always an athletic kid, even at my heavier stages I played on the varsity basketball team. But in my route to become more athletic, I gain a passion to become more healthy. And in this pursuit to become a healthier person, I wanted to become an all around strong person, mentally, physically, physiologically, emotionally, and spirituality.
I majored in kinesiology with an emphasis on nutrition. The kinesiology was decent, the nutrition was horrible. I lost a few pounds but gained depression, brain fog, and I felt weak as a man (very embarrassing). Something didn’t add up. I was exercising more, eating less, at low fat, high grains….everything I was taught to do.
One day in class, my professor preached about how bad saturated fat was and how butter wasn’t natural because it went liquid on a hot skillet back to a solid when the skillet cooled. ??? Excuse me?!?! Butter from an animal is unnatural?? Doesn’t water go from hot steam to liquid once it hits a cool mirror?
This is when the skepticism came in. I started reading, watching, and listening to everything I could that had to do with health. I was able to tweak my diet, exercise program, lifestyle, even my breathing until I was able to heal myself. And now my mission is to help others do the same.
I am a CPT, CHEK HLC1, FDN, athlete, fit model, and certified health nerd and strength geek…as I mentioned before. I am extremely passionate about health as you will notice through my blogs and videos. With the overwhelming info online about nutrition and fitness, my goal is to simplify and clear up the air.
I am no where near perfect (so don’t stress yourself out about perfection), but keep shooting to become better and better everyday.
One thing I’ve always been good at is teaching. I have tutored all throughout school, and naturally became a personal trainer to teach people how to get fit. I created this blog to help expand my reach and teach more people about their health, hopefully in an entertaining way…I also hate reading boring sh*t.
By the way I’m not always going to be politically correct. I’m going to speak my mind, which is good for you because you know I’m not being influenced by any big corporations paying me to say what they want me to, *Cough* Dr. OZ .
